Watch the full walkthrough, then follow the same steps below. Have a helper, take your time, and aim for deep, completely full impressions that match the sample in your box.
Complete the invoice and check all the boxes so we build exactly the set you ordered.
Understand the whole procedure first. Hold the sample impression from the box and note how deep and completely full the ear bowl is, that’s your target. There’s extra material in case you need a second try.
Seat the person in a comfortable chair where a helper can easily reach both ears.
Gently place a Q-tip in the ear to gauge depth, you should feel more than an inch to the eardrum. The deeper down the canal, the better the seal we can make.
Look into the canal with the ear light. It must be clear of wax, we can’t capture an impression through a wax plug.
Place the foam oto-block to the second bend so it sits snug and fully fills the canal. The string should hang straight down, both equal, to the depth line on the ear light. Gentle, but deep.
Open the two-part silicone and mix vigorously until it’s a uniform pink throughout, only about 7 seconds. It sets quickly, so move fast.
Roll the mixed silicone between your hands and load it into the syringe right away.
Inject deep in the canal first, pulling out as you go and keeping the tip buried in the material so it packs into every nook. Fill the entire ear bowl, completely, like the sample.
The silicone firms up in about 4–5 minutes. Stay still and relaxed while it cures.
Once firm, start high on the ear, pull forward, and twist gently to release it.
Return everything to the box, ear light, syringe, completed form, and both impressions, apply the prepaid self-addressed label, and mail it back to us.
There’s no special skill involved. You don’t need to be a clinician, you just need a steady helper, a few quiet minutes, and the kit we send you. The silicone is a clean material that mixes by hand and rinses off easily, so there’s no mess to worry about.
The foam block does the careful part for you: it stops the material at a safe depth and protects your eardrum, so all you have to do is fill the ear and wait. In four or five minutes the impression pops right out, and you’re done.
If anything feels uncertain, you can re-watch the video as many times as you like, and there’s extra material in the box, so a second attempt is built right in. When you’re finished, the prepaid box does the rest.
Every set is hand-built to your exact impressions. If anything about the fit isn’t right, just reach out, we’ll work with you to adjust and perfect it until it seals and feels exactly the way it should. That’s our commitment to every customer.
“I was nervous about doing it myself, but the video made it foolproof. My wife and I had both ears done in about fifteen minutes, and the fit is incredible.”
“As a range instructor I’ve worn every plug out there. These are the first customs that actually seal and stay comfortable through a full day.”
“Everything in the kit was labeled and the instructions were clear. I mailed it back, and a few weeks later I had a perfect set. Worth every penny.”
The same simple home process creates custom protection for every setting, tuned to the exact level of sound you need to block.

You have never done this before. You are about to put a small foam block in your own ear and fill it with silicone, and somewhere in the back of your mind is the thought: what if I get it wrong and I have just wasted my money?
You haven’t. Tell us, and we send you another kit, free. No argument, no fee, no “you should have watched the video.”
It happens, and it happens to people who did nothing wrong. An impression can come out short, or with a void, or the block can shift. Our lab checks every impression the moment it lands, and if it isn’t good enough to build from, we don’t build from it. We would rather send you a second kit than hand-build a set around a bad mold and let you find out eight weeks later.
You cannot hurt yourself doing this. The oto-block stops the silicone at a safe depth, it physically cannot travel too far into your canal. The silicone is soft, it sets in about five minutes, and the whole impression lifts right back out. It takes 10–15 minutes, it’s easier with a helper, and there is a guided video in the box.
And if you would rather not do it yourself at all, you don’t have to. Get your impressions taken in person at any of our 50+ providers, or at an audiologist or hearing-aid centre. Send those instead.

What happens after you pay
A custom set cannot exist until we have the shape of your ears. The kit we send takes a mould every bit as good as one taken in a clinic, it is what most of our customers use, and it is what the lab builds from. If you would rather have it done for you, any audiologist can, or you can visit one of our providers. It costs the same either way.
